Nautilus Assure x Etherisc AMA 💬

Q1: Introduction to Kevin from Nautilus Assure
Kevin: I'm the founder of Nautilus Assure, based in Singapore. We are a downstream insurance aggregator that offers both on-chain and traditional general insurance. Our network covers Southeast Asia with partners in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
We aggregate insurance products for digital assets, working with partners like Etherisc, InsurAce, Neptune Mutual, and UnoRe. Our goal is to make insurance accessible for companies with digital exposure, whether it's through regulations or financial licenses. We work with partners globally to ensure these companies are covered across jurisdictions.

Q2: What products does Nautilus offer, and when will customers be able to purchase policies?
Kevin: Nautilus offers a range of insurance products, including both on-chain covers and traditional general insurance. Our primary focus is on helping Web3 companies and those with digital assets get the coverage they need. For instance, we recently soft-launched our USDC de-peg insurance product in partnership with Etherisc. We are planning a full product launch between November and December, at which point customers will be able to purchase these policies. Simultaneously, we’ll also be launching our traditional insurance platform, aimed at supporting companies with digital exposure.

Q3: How does Etherisc contribute to this partnership?
Christoph: Etherisc is a blockchain-based platform that automates parametric insurance. We’re venturing into use cases like USDC de-peg protection, where we work with Nautilus to provide stablecoin insurance in case of market crashes. We're excited about the potential of Nautilus as an aggregator, making these products easily accessible to everyone.

Q4: Future steps for the partnership?
Kevin: We’re thrilled about the future of this partnership. Nautilus Assure focuses on working downstream, engaging directly with businesses and communities to offer tailored insurance solutions. Etherisc, on the other hand, brings its upstream expertise, connecting with regulators, insurers, and investors. Together, we aim to scale innovative insurance products like weather-related or flight delay insurance—areas where traditional insurance often falls short.
Christoph: This partnership bridges the gap between decentralized insurance solutions and customer needs. Nautilus excels in customer relations and product distribution, while Etherisc provides the decentralized infrastructure and security foundation. By combining forces, we can offer more comprehensive, scalable solutions that address the specific risks of Web3 companies and decentralized finance projects, creating real impact in areas underserved by traditional insurance.

Q5: How does Nautilus market its services?
Kevin: We serve both B2B and B2C markets. On the B2C side, anyone can access our platform as long as they have a registered wallet. We market mainly by word of mouth. On the B2B side, we operate through referrals and word of mouth as well, specializing in digital general insurance.

Q6: How can a non-technical user purchase de-peg insurance on your platform?
Kevin: It’s simple. You log into our web app, connect your wallet, and search for the product—let’s say, the USDC de-peg product. You select the duration, agree to the T&C’s, and complete the purchase via your wallet. The policy will be activated depending on the partner's terms, and it will appear in your wallet.

Q7: What is the role of aggregators like Nautilus in the on-chain insurance space?
Kevin: Aggregators simplify the user experience by consolidating different insurance products in one platform. Think of it like Expedia for insurance. Users can easily find the products they need, and this also helps insurance providers gain traction. Eventually, we plan to embed our products into marketplaces for seamless insurance purchases.

Q8: Where do you see the future of insurance distribution on the blockchain?
Christoph: Aggregators will be crucial, similar to tools in the DeFi space like DeFiLlama or 1Inch. We'll have basic providers for insurance, lending, and exchange, while others tailor products for end customers. The landscape will be diverse, with insurance fitting into this structure as well.

Q9: How does Nautilus plan to incorporate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) components into its platform?
Kevin: ESG is a top priority for us at Nautilus. We are actively exploring ways to include both on-chain and off-chain ESG-focused products. There’s growing interest, especially in Southeast Asia, in supporting green and environmentally conscious initiatives. We plan to list ESG-related insurance products on our platform, providing our users the opportunity to engage with sustainable projects and be part of a movement toward positive environmental and social impact.

Q10: How does Nautilus handle security and transparency?
Kevin: We work with partners who have completed security audits and conduct regular pen testing and cybersecurity audits. We make sure all information is protected and only available on a need-to-know basis.
• Thorough Partner Vetting: We only work with partners who have completed rigorous security audits.
  • • Regular Audits: Nautilus undergoes frequent UAPT penetration testing and cybersecurity audits to ensure the platform remains secure.
  • • Data Protection: User data is stored on a protected, need-to-know basis to limit access and ensure privacy.
  • • Regulatory Compliance: We adhere to strict security measures, ensuring we meet or exceed regulatory requirements for companies with traditional market licenses.

Final Remarks
Christoph: We’re excited to launch new products, like our flight delay insurance, which is in the final testing stages. We’ll also be migrating all products to our new GF version 3, which is a foundation for future developments. Stay tuned for more details at the upcoming D1Conf.
Kevin: We’re thrilled to collaborate with Etherisc and look forward to shaping the Web3 insurance space together.
